Dave's Haiku

Nature Haiku

One more day is done
the moon chases down the sun
daylight's on the run.
  youthful Summer days
a time of growth and changes
while Autumn lurks near
sleepy mariner
beams upon quiescent bay
Refreshed - starts his day

Forested mountains
spied from behind pine curtains
eternity glimpsed
Peacefully serene
this rolling-hilled countryside
blanketed in white
  Getting older now
My youth races to catch up
to my wizened self

early morning mists
dancing spectres stoic pines
in three-quarter time

Misty clouds of grey
Pass in the sky above me
Time for reflection

  nature's instrument
trumpet for my love song played
my heart's sentinel

beauty out of place
in a world with so much strife
a calming brushstroke

eyes of the huntress
locked onto her fleeting prey
as she sets to pounce

lone puma prowling
she spots a winter white hare
food for her three cubs

Waterfall
pristine forest green
disturbed silence roaring stream
gorged by winter snow

wildlife confluence
in Tanzania's parkland
Serengeti's hope

this circle of life
truest of communities
eking existence

brilliant nighttime orb
muse to many a poet
nighttime observer

Bad Moon on the rise
soon the werewolf starts his prowl
hunting for victims

worn time passages
echoes to the distant past
aged to perfection

growing discontent
like plains before a twister
calm before the storm

Biting frigid air
White-coiffed pines' silent homage
to azure goddess

Is that Robert Frost
Stopping by these snow-capped woods?
Contemplating sleep?

scattered foliage
browns, yellows, reds fade to grey
childhood memories

Rose in a Vase

sensual red hue
like a secret lover's lips
inviting passion

Sunset

Armageddon's flames
getting closer day by day
soon, we'll have to go

Fun Haiku

Suntanned skin beneath
black lace two-piece lingerie
my wife - me - alone.
  The highway feels them
my Firestones zooming along
destiny unknown...
  Pajamas

100%
Cotton flannel pajamas
for COLD winter nights...
Lace

Marriage becomes dull
come home, feed baby, housework
tonight's surprise? Lace!
  Highway

White lines race past me
to fade from my mirror's view
like years from my life
My patchwork flannel
black and red hunter's jacket
Warmth when I'm outdoors

Winning

With jubilant hearts
players gathered on the field
the hometown crowd roared

On the podium
the candidate scanned the crowd
Proudly elated

  Piano

eighty-eight iv'ries
work in unified fashion
true integration
Piano

Thanks - Mr. Steinway
for the grandest of music
from your pianos

Vote

Ballot in my hand
I make my way to the booth
and punch my choices
  Vote

Punch-card of choices
which one shall I select here
Proudly cast my vote
  Heartbreak

that sinking feeling
she says - "I really need to
talk to you - OK?"

Heartbreak

Elvis sang of it
it's on a street named "Lonely"
it's open all night!
Toothpaste

Great green globs of goo
fall from my plastic toothbrush
Crest Gel on marble
  Baseball

The crowd stands up - "GONE!"
red-stitched ball rockets skyward
One more hero made.

Baseball

White leather, red lace
the small white orb arches high
Four hundred ten feet.
Toothpaste

My bathroom sink-top
An artist's marble canvas
impressions in paste
  Toothpaste

Use this I was told
amalgam white and chalky
Keep your pearlies white!

Lipstick

small metal tubing
contains my secret weapon
moist red kissing glaze
  Lipstick

sensually glazed
her mouth moves closer to mine
ecstasy in red

Blanket

Its downy fleece warmth
protects my baby from cold
wrapping him safely

Peacefully serene
this rolling-hilled countryside
blanketed in white
  Tortoise family
preparing for the big race
versus mister Hare

nature and nurture
I want to show you the world
parent to her child
  Wrong!

Mars and Venus We
Often collide She and Me
Some things Not to Be
